About This Salon
Located in Madison's historic Garver Feed Mill, KOSA Wellness Spa & Retreat occupies a spacious 4,500 square feet dedicated to Ayurvedic practices. The head spa services draw from Indian traditions, featuring Shirodhara and Shirotchampi, an Indian head massage. These treatments incorporate organic oils and herbs, blending steam, aromatherapy, and exfoliation techniques. The communal steam and sauna rituals are particularly noted for their use of hot stone and aromatherapy elements. Feedback reveals a strong emphasis on the post-treatment atmosphere, where clients can unwind in the Sanctuary Lounge. This space offers organic teas and quiet corners for reflection. The spa's accessibility features, including wheelchair entrances and restrooms, ensure it accommodates a diverse clientele.

Booking Your Head Spa
Here are our tips to prepare for and fully enjoy your scalp treatment.
Book in Advance
Book 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Weekend slots sell out fast. And some scalp care specialists are in high demand, especially at reputable Japanese head spa salons.
Prepare for Your Visit
If you have concerns like itchy scalp, product buildup, or hair loss (alopecia), mention them when booking to customize your session.
Day of Your Session
Don't wash your hair the day of your appointment and arrive with brushed hair. Skip makeup as some treatments include a facial mask or kobido massage.
After Your Session
Enjoy a calm activity to extend the relaxing effects of your head massage. Note: blow-drying is usually not included. Allow extra time for long hair.
At-Home Care
Avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours to let the treatment absorb. For a healthy scalp between sessions, ask your specialist which shampoo and hair care products to use at home.
Maintain Your Results
For lasting scalp health, consider regular treatments. Many clients book their next head spa before leaving to maintain their scalp care routine.
